Danny Thompson's 75th Birthday Session This Wednesday - Last Few Tickets!

Just as Clarence was Bruce's Big Man, Danny Thompson has been the Big Man to so many seminal line ups and fabulous artists that we're sure there was a queue of people wanting to be a part of his 75th Birthday Sessions, which will take place in April this year.
Danny is a renowned double bass player and has received two, BBC Radio 2 Lifetime Achievement Folk Awards, for both his work with Pentangle and for his services as a solo musician. During his career, he has played with blues artists such as Josh White, John Lee Hooker, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, jazz greats such as Art Farmer, Freddy Hubbard, Joe Williams, Mark Murphy, Stan Tracey and Tubby Hayes, and folk musicians like Richard Thompson, John Martyn, Bert Jansch and Nick Drake as well as pop stars Roy Orbison, Rod Stewart, Donovan, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) and, of course, Martin Simpson.
A hugely respected musician and a much loved and admired human being, Danny Thompson has spent the last 60 years making musical history and Martin is over the moon - the Half Moon in fact - to have been asked to appear with Danny as part of these celebrations, on April 2nd.
The gig is to be held at The Half Moon in Putney, London and tickets are £15. There will be great support from Fraser Anderson, who counts Bob Harris and Chuck Berry amongst his fans and is regularly compared to a young John Martyn. While Anderson himself brushes aside the comparison placing Martyn on a pedestal, there's no doubting that his songs and performances come from the same heart wrenching and honest place. We hope you can make it - because it will be a very special night!
