Friend, neighbour and Mercury Prize nominated singer and musician, Richard Hawley invited Martin to join him onstage at the end of his sell out show at Sheffield's City Hall last week. Martin was delighted to be asked and thoroughly enjoyed playing with such a fantastic band and performer. They performed 'Waterboy' a song Richard learned from the work of Paul Robeson, who was also a favourite of Martin's mother and a performer Martin grew up listening to. After the show, Martin said, "I loved playing music with Richard and his band. He has such a good band with fantastic players. it's a real buzz to be on stage with them. Richard is a beautiful singer to accompany and a great guitar player, it was a total joy. One of my favourite performances of the year, definitely."
Richard's City Hall gig sold out so fast that another one was put in for tomorrow night - Tuesday 2nd October. We'll be going!
