Simpson, Cutting, Kerr are appearing as part of Nancy Kerr's curation of the Words & Music series at London's King's Place in December. Martin is delighted to be part of this series, which explores narratives that spring from our environment and our relationships within it, through literature, music and song - the three sings closest to Martin's heart.
On 2 December at 7.30pm, Simpson Cutting Kerr will be sharing the evening with the brilliant author, Rob Cowen, who's latest book, 'Common Ground", offers nothing less than a new way of writing and reading about nature and our experiences within it. Here, we are offered a layered, intimate and startling portrait of a single piece of common ground. For it is a microcosm of our world at large: beautiful, connected, terrifying, growing closer to the edge every day.
'Sensitive, thoughtful and poetic ... leading us into a whole new way of looking at the world' Michael Palin
'Absolutely mesmerizing, utterly beautiful and engrossing' Joanne Harris
Martin, Andy Cutting and Nancy Kerr, each an accomplished soloist in their own right, come together to present traditional and new music, performed with virtuosity, joy and for the love of innovation. Their album Murmurs was released on Topic Records in 2015.
"Even halfway through 2015 we’d already seen a number of astonishingly high quality records from many quarters; even so, Murmurs stood head and shoulders against much of this extraordinarily stiff competition.” Folk Radio UK
“A varied set dominated by new songs about politics, history and nature.” The Guardian
