Martin On BBC Radio 3 With The Full English Band

Last week on BBC Radio 3's Music Matters programme, presenter Tom Service travelled to Sheffield to talk to Martin, Fay Hield, Nancy Kerr, Seth Lakeman, Rob Harbron, Sam Sweeney and Ben Nicholl about their new project, The Full English, a band put together by Fay to reinterpret some of the work available on the latest digital archive of The English Folk, Dance & Song Society. The launch of this highly significant archive will be this Thursday at Cecil Sharp House in London, with the band presenting their first public performance of the material they've been working on this past few months. All the band members are thoroughly working together, Martin says; "I am having too much fun working with these guys, who are at the top of their field and a great bunch of people. It's fascinating to work with such amazing musicians and singers in combinations I've never dreamt of before. Nancy, Fay and Sam and I have played together both informally and professionally, but to get to spend proper time with them all and to have Seth, Rob and Ben added into the mix, is fantastic and really challenges us all to work in different ways. Which is always a good thing for me. I'm looking forward to Thursday very much." You can listen to the Music Matters programme here and get more info about where you can see this great band, here
