The Elizabethan Session At Celtic Connections

Featuring a panoply of contemporary folk luminaries – Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr, Bella Hardy, Jim Moray, John Smith, Hannah James and Rachel Newton – plus early music specialist Emily Askew, The Elizabethan Session began with five days’ collective woodshedding in rural Hertfordshire, creating new music inspired by the Elizabethan age.

Co-commissioned by EFDSS and the Folk by the Oak festival, the resulting album stunningly spanned the ages, bringing centuries-old characters alive and artfully reworking the period’s musical forms, while live performances – this being the last – have also won loud acclaim.

“Alchemy yielded gold from the very beginning…a stunning and unforgettable evening” (The Times)

Currently the last ever performance by the group of the album that won World Music Album Of The Year, 2014 in The Sunday Times, the concert will be at The Mitchell Library in Glasgow on 18 January, from 7.30pm - 10.30pm.
Tickets can be got from 0141 353 8000 or online at http://www.celticconnections.com/events/Pages/event.aspx?ev=795457c9-6240-4fed-921a-a3bd0107cada
