Martin Simpson invites a number of young stars from the world of folk to join him in concert to close the Purpose and Grace series. Bright Phoebus is a Sheffield based collective run by Martin, Jon Boden, Fay Hield, Kit Bailey and Lindsay Smith for the purpose of celebrating and presenting traditional music.
Joining Martin for an evening of strong voices and exquisite musicianship will be collaborators Andy Cutting and Andy Seward plus acclaimed folk singer and interpreter Fay Hield, BBC Folk Awards Horizon Winners Ewan McLennan (2011) and guitarist and songwriter Sam Carter (2010).
"Through Bright Phoebus I have come to work with some of the finest younger musicians on the scene, and I am delighted to present some of those musicians at King's Place… There will be solo performance and collaborations, and we none of us know where it may go! The title and the concert are a nod to the late lovely Mike Waterson" Martin Simpson
This will be a great evening - if you're in the area, get tickets and find out what all the fuss is about in Sheffield, where Bright Phoebus nights have become legendary!
