Unearthed! 1976 photos of Martin by one of Britain’s greatest rock photographers.

We're delighted to be able to show you some photos that Keith Morris, one of Britain's greatest rock photographers, took of Martin in 1976 - what Ian Anderson of 'fRoots' magazine affectionately refers to as 'The Boy Band Years'! In a career spanning over four decades, photographer Keith Morris had a rare, even perhaps unique ability to discover and draw out the underlying personalities of his subjects. And although best known for his iconic images of the likes of Marc Bolan, Nick Drake, The Damned, Elvis Costello, Janis Joplin and B.B. King, he also applied his eye to literally hundreds of other musicians, groups and indeed people from a diverse range of backgrounds, as well as the cultural and social conditions of the times he lived in.
Like many of Keith’s musical interests, the origins of this lay in the late ‘sixties musical scene where groups like the Incredible String Band and Pentangle melded traditional British folk traditions with emerging hippie sensibilities and the counter-culture. Keith was of course involved in the underground press and it was inevitable that he would find himself photographing these early pioneers, and we're very grateful to Clare Morris to be able to reproduce these photos that Keith took of Martin here in our Gallery - have a look!
