Well Done Terry!

Terry Oliver, Martin's road manager, completed his River Thames adventure last Sunday to a very welcoming reception at Gravesend Sailing Club. Terry kayaked the length of the Thames from Cricklade in Wiltshire to Gravesend in Kent, to raise money for BBC Children In Need, a total of 185 miles, with £1,250.00 raised so far.

Terry says it was a wonderful adventure, in a wonderful environment but he was amazed at the rubbish and litter that he saw, both on the non-tidal and the tidal parts of the Thames. He's also saddened to discover that very little appears to be done to clear this rubbish out of the river and from the flood defences - surely this is exactly what the Environment Agency should be responsible for? Our rivers and their habitats for wildlife are very important, very special and truly wonderful - it's an environment we should be proud of and look after.

Terry would like to thank his road support crew and the lovely people he met who helped him on his trip - fantastic support all the way!

And of course all of you who donated to his charity of choice, BBC Children In Need.
Terry's Justgiving webpage will be open until June if anyone still wishes to donate to Children In Need on behalf of Terry's Thames Kayak Adventure. Please go to www.justgiving.com/terryoliver.
